Pumpkin carving

Brian and I usually carve pumpkins every year then sees who did the best job. Sunday, Luc and I carved one. I think Brian decided he's too grown up for carving pumpkins anymore. Since I had no competition, I just went for the traditional old jack-o-lantern.

Luc was so mad because I wouldn't give him the very large knife I used to cut the top.

He got over it and decided to see what was inside that pumpkin.

I thought surely he would love to stick his hands in there. After all, little boys love to get dirty.

I was so wrong. He immediately wanted to "wash hands". I ended up cleaning out the pumpkin alone.

Seriously, this is his "cheese" now. What happened to that cute little smile he used to give to us when we took pictures.

Luc was so excited that I was cutting a face for the pumpkin. He stood by me with his hand on my shoulder saying "buhb bob mama" the whole time. If I didn't acknowledge that he was telling me good job, he would get right in my face and say it again. It was the sweetest thing ever.

How to keep a toddler happy at a social gathering in public

It's so inconvenient for families that we have the Auburn watch parties at a restaurant. Supposedly, they used to have them at a bowling alley in a party room. I think that would be somewhat easier. Anyway, most families start coming the first couple of games then don't come back. I guess they get sick of fighting with their kids. I do too but we stick with it. Here's how we do it.

Lots of snacks

Climbing all over the bench and table...the only people that ever want to sit with us have a 2 year old. Noone else comes near our table.

...then I get to enjoy the game. And btw, I don't know how, but we have been lucky enough for him to fall asleep the past 3 times that we've been.

I don't particularly like eating out in the first place but by the time football season is over, I will probably not want to eat out for a very very long time.

The reason why....

...I've been so tired.

...I gag at the weirdest things like mint smells, water, and random foods that I typically love....I cannot change a poopy diaper unless I have no other option. Then I stick a wipe on my nose so that it is the only thing I smell.

...I will randomly throw up for no reason at all...well I guess there is a reason but there is sometimes rarely a warning.

...I feel like throwing up constantly.

...I've been super moody and irritable.

...I carry crackers or pretzels everywhere with me.

...I've been gaining weight.

...Luc kisses my belly all the time.

...baby #2 is on the way. I'm due May 30th. The baby looks great. We've heard the heartbeat a couple of times now. He/she is doing great. I've been feeling pretty crappy though. I don't think it's been quite as bad as with Luc but it's no fun. Pregnancy for me is NOT a beautiful thing. It is gross and I hate it. I just love the outcome though.

I'm sorry to those of you I haven't told. I assumed everyone knew so I haven't been talking about it much.

We went to a pumpkin patch in Elgin last week. Mia and Maizie invited us to the Elgin farm to celebrate their 3rd birthdays. It was such a great idea for a birthday party. Luc had so much fun playing with his friends, looking at the animals, riding the hayride, and eating candy.

Here are my attempts for getting a good fall picture of Luc. It is so hard and frustrating to get him to look at me for a picture. He is not into having his pictures taken these days.

And it is even harder to take a good picture of two little boys.

Fall Festival

Luc had fall festival at school Thursday. I got to hang out and help with some games. The kids had so much fun. The little bity kids (Luc's age) walked in and kind of froze. I think it was a bit overwhelming at first. He and his classmates warmed up and started running around playing though.

I think this was the biggest hit for all the kids probably because it was so messy


The idea of this game was to toss big rings around the pumpkins. Luc just walked in and started moving them.

I was so amazed at how still and quiet Luc was to get his face painted. I'm glad I wasn't working at that station. There is no way he would have cooperated for me.

Sad day in Auburn

First of all, I had so much planned for our 2 days in Auburn. I wanted to see everyone that I love and miss so much. I only saw about half the people I had planned to see. And the friends and family I did get to see was for a very short time. Hopefully, I will get to see those of you I missed this trip when we come back in November.

Oh I forgot to tell about our Friday night. Heather, David, and I went out to Loachapoka to Fred's Feed and Seed to hear this guy play. He was great. I really enjoyed his music. The location however reminded me of the movie House of 1000 Corpses. It was pretty sketchy. We walk through this old run down store to the back where there is a dark barn-like room. This was where the show was. The audience consisted of mostly 50-60 year old long bearded men in overalls (they kind of looked like cave men). We are sitting there laughing when David says "Oh my gosh look at that man over there". We turn to see a man with his big curled up mustache eating a bowl of turnip greens. I laugh every time I think about it. It was hilarious.

After a little rest, Heather and I went back to campus for the game. It was FREEZING. We were pretty miserable from the weather already...our boys stinking up on the field made it even worse.


I missed Nova in air. I was fooling with my lens...darn fancy camera.

This is my picture of the only good play of the night. Stupid man in front of me threw his hand up right as Neiko Thorpe was crossing the goal line.

Auburn

Luc probably would have had lots of fun staying at my parents but I drug him up to Auburn. He did enjoy playing at Will and Sam's house though. Beth and Brian made us a delicious brunch. Thank you so much! I realized that Will and Sam are really helpful to have around. I wish we were in Auburn so they could come over to play with Luc all the time. He loves them so much. They play with him, lay on the floor and let him crawl all over them, carry him around.

The boys passed down a huge GeoTrax set for Luc. I can remember playing with these trains for hours with them when they were younger.

Of course I had to test it out. I pulled a Brian and ran into the fence (inside joke, ask Brian about it). I'm blaming the size of the bike. I drive a full size one much better.

Luc and I went to Alabama for a short trip last weekend. I have been really wanting to go to an Auburn game and I had a ticket so I went. We did get to spend a little bit of time in Fort Deposit.

This is my brother's dog, Braddock. He's probably the funniest dog I've ever been around. He's such a spoiled brat too.



My dad built this thing to carry his honey to and from the bee cabinets (he has honey bees). The boys thought it would be fun for my mom to push them around the yard. Sam said it was their chariot.


Aunt Allison came down since she doesn't live far from my parents.

Tents

We've been making a lot of tents lately. Luc loves to get under there and play and read.

Also, I can't keep my couch cushions on the couch. He is always taking them off. It is SOOOOO annoying.
