Alabama trip

I am just now getting around to posting about our trip home. We got to see almost the whole family. My family had a cookout Friday night so we got to see all my aunts, uncles and cousins...and grandparents. Brian's parents and sister came down on Saturday so we got to spend a day with them too.

Luc had so much fun. We spent almost all day of every day there outside. Luc loved the horses and cows. He would walk around saying "oo" and "ahsie" or something like that meant horsie. He also loved the dogs. The second he would wake up whether it was from a nap or in the morning he would say "ahgie ahgie ahgie" (doggie) repeatedly until I acknowledged that he wanted to see the dogs. He got to take his first tractor ride with my dad. Daddy said that Luc was trying to press every button he could find when he was riding. He also went on his first paddle boat ride in our pond and went fishing. Well, maybe I did the fishing but he got to see a real fish up close.

Here are the pictures. As you can see, we had tons of fun.

Bad luck strikes again

I think I've said this before but in grad school some friends made fun of me for always having bad luck. Well here is more bad luck.

Luc and I went home to Alabama for a few days. We flew standby (which you might not want to do if you have a baby with you and a job to get back to...luckily my job is pretty flexible). My uncle is able to view seating on flights so he was able to tell me that it wasn't a good idea to try to fly back home on Sunday. So we planned to come back to Austin Monday. The flights Monday were all overbooked. Luckily, Uncle Lee lives in Atlanta and was able to come get us from the airport so we could stay at his house. He took us to the airport Tuesday morning. Again the flights to Austin were overbooked but we were able to fly into San Antonio. Brian missed his class and picked us up. Typically, for standby passengers, your luggage doesn't board the plane until you are given a seat on board. For some reason, my suitcase and carseat did not get the "standby" tags put on them at check-in so they flew back to Austin on the first flight Monday morning. The worst part of the whole expeience was not having anything. Uncle Lee had to buy a carseat in order to pick us up. Also, Luc fell and bloodied up his lip on Monday. We both had blood all over our shirts and no clothes to change into.

So we are back in Austin. I went to work today. While meeting with a parent, I heard all this craziness outside. Another speech pathologist ran in and said it was hailing outside. We went to a window and saw back windshields of cars in the parking lot shattered. Sure enough mine was among the ones shattered. We thought just back windshields were shattered. When I saw my car though, I cried. It looked like this.... (Oh and this was after I pulled my car under a garage to view the damage)

Back windshield and driver side back window

Busted tailight and dents (that you can't really see in the picture) all down the side of my car

If you run your hand on the inside of the front windshield, you'll get cut. It hasn't fallen in but it's messed up.

Even bented my mirror back

Sunroof completely shattered

This is not my car. This guy was driving at the time. I thought it is so weird how there are circles all in his back windshield and it didn't shatter.

Fun with Mazie and Anderson

A couple of weeks ago, Mazie and Anderson came over to play. Mazie and Luc had so much fun playing together. Anderson had fun watching them...and sleeping.

After supper...

This is what Luc's belly looks like after he eats.

How'd that get there?

I find things in the most unusual places. I have no idea how they get there. ;-)
I decided to take pictures of some of the funny things I find.

Toys in the dishwasher

Before the rain

Last week, before the rain hit, Kim and I met at the Auboretum so the boys could play. It was a beautiful day and we had a lot of fun. There are statues of cows that Luc loves. He walks around saying "oo"...his way of saying "moo". We also had some really delicious ice cream.

Twinkies

Luc and his tiny friend Jake have matched at 2 seperate events lately. Neither time was played but they had on the same exact outfits. Kellie was able to get a picture the first time. We missed out on a picture the second time.

Picture update

I haven't update recent pictures of Luc in a while. Here are some from the past several days. He is saying new words every day. We really have to watch what we say because he is beginning to repeat words he hears.
He loves to be thrown in the air. He laughs and laughs and makes the cutest face.

Daddy made me wear my pants like a nerd.

This is the face he makes when he is really concentrating on something. Even though Luc is a little me, I think this face comes from his Daddy.

Luc has a ton of summertime clothes that were given to me from someone. He has more than he will ever wear this summer...even after I gave some away. Anyway, I wanted to be able to buy him ONE outfit that I could pick out. This is it. I think it is the cutest little frat boy outfit.

Luc in underwear...not for trainning purposes. He had a really bad diaper rash this weekend. I bought some trainning pants for him to run around in. He did pee in them but at least it soaked in and didn't get everywhere.

He LOVES bubbles. Sunday, we went to Brian's softball practice. I let Luc hold the bottle of bubbles...BIG MISTAKE. When he started pouring them out (yes, the non-pour kind), I took them away. He stood up, then sat or more like fell to the ground, laid out on the ground, and started screaming. I just walked away. Luckily, not too many people were out there to see it. It was quite the tantrum.

Also, he loves to be topless. He constantly pulls on his shirt trying to get it off. Once I take it off, he is happy. Brian says he is a true Alabamian.

Videos from Luc's birthday

I know these are a couple of weeks late but here are some videos from Luc's birthday. There are quite a few videos here. "Luc" got a really cool Flip camera for his birthday...Thank you so much Brian, Beth, Will, and Sam. We are really enjoying it. It is really easy to use and very easy to upload pictures to your computer for those of you in the market.

Here is Luc saying "what's this?" and squealing when he saw the decorations for his birthday.

A funny message from the "Holi-man"...

And the fun....THE CAKE...

This past weekend

We didn't do much this weekend. Luc was running a fever all weekend. He never really got sick...just feverish, clingy, and wouldn't eat. It was so weird. Anyway, he is all better now...except for being clingy and being very picky about what he eats.

I think he's been clingy partially because I've been leaving for work. He knows when I'm getting ready and that is when he needs me to hold him. Then when I come home, I can hardly leave his sight and I'm carrying him around half the night.

As for eating, Luc used to be like a garbage disposal. He wanted anything anyone was eating. Now he doesn't want to eat any vegetables or meat. He pretty much only wants bananas, avocados, and goldfish. It's driving me crazy. I'm hoping it is just temporary and due to not feeling well lately. Anyway, for now, no more junk food snacks...at least until he starts eating his meals again.

Here are some pictures from the duck pond at the Auboritum. We stopped by there on the way home the other day. It's really nice out there but there is duck poop everywhere.

If a duck can have a bad feather day, this one is it. He must have had a long weekend.

Late post

Here are some pictures of the kids playing at our lunch last week. Briana hosted and made DELICIOUS breakfast enchilladas. I had never heard of these things...breakfast tacos, breakfast burritos, breakfast enchilladas...until we came out to Texas. Um they're so good.
