Madeline's First Birthday Party

I apologize, mostly to the grandparents, aunts, and uncles that weren't able to come, for being a week late posting this birthday post. We had a low key first birthday party for Madeline. We only invited her bff, Zadie, and a couple of adults. We had (kind of) a "You Are My Sunshine" theme.

My pictures didn't turn out as I had envisioned but here they are.
Madeline's most favorite thing to do is play peek-a-boo with her blanket. She even plays by herself and thinks it's hilarious. She loves these blankets. If one of the boys even walks near her blanket, she flips out. Is it the beginnings of a drama queen?

She wasn't sure what to think about that cake

Then she got really upset with it
The big kids enjoyed it...at least the icing off the top

She finally had a little taste...
...but wasn't too impressed

Just so everyone knows...that cake I spent a couple of hours on didn't fully go to waste. When the grown ups weren't looking, Zadie found it under Madeline's chair.

Madeline is ONE

Yes, she really is a year old. This has been the fastest year ever. I wish time would just slow down. I hear it just keeps getting faster though. Madeline has gone from a precious sweet tiny newborn to a screaming 24/7 colicky baby to a sweet happy smiley baby to a teething clingy whiny baby..and is now becoming a happy silly toddler.

Madeline had her first taste of cake on her birthday. She seemed really confused but eventually, she dug in and asked for more.

And here are all the biggies for all three babies at one year:
Luc: 31 in (97th percentile), 22lb5oz (45th percentile), head 49 cm (97th percentile)
He has been walking for two months. He said 11 words and some animal sounds.
Evan: 30 in (50th), 22lb (40th), 48 1/2 cm (95th)
He had been walking for a month. He said 15 words and several animal sounds
Madeline: 29 in (50th), 20lb4oz (40th), 47 1/2 (97th)
She only says dada and mama. She is taking a few steps. She has never slept through the
night. She can identify nose, eyes, toes, belly, and mouth.

Madeline is so much smaller than the boys were at this age. She is also so far behind them developmentally in everything. I think this is God's way of making me feel like I have a baby longer.

Evan's 3rd birthday party

I feel kind of bad for Evan. May is always such a busy month for us. It's Mother's day, our wedding anniversary, Evan's birthday, Brian's birthday, end of preschool fesitivites, and usually we are in Alabama...this year we have family in town a lot of the month. I just didn't have the energy to have a big birthday party. He chose two of his friends, Anderson and Caleb, to invite. It was so perfect. The three of them played a lot, the older siblings played together, and the babies played a little bit.

I really hate character themed things...parties, clothes, toys, etc. As much as I tried to talk him out of this, he insisted on a Batman cake. It was not as much fun to make but he loved it.

Cole really enjoyed his cake

Mr Freeze froze Batman and Robin. They had to shoot them free with their water guns.

I think we're safe with these superheros

Oh these two...

Happy birthday sweet boy!

Evan's 3rd birthday present

For Luc's 5th birthday he begged to do the indoor skydiving. Since he did it for his birthday, Evan started counting down until his borthday so that he could do it too. He was so excited. Once he got in there he wasn't so sure about it though. He walked right in like a big kid. He looked terrified. Afterwards, we asked if he was scared and he absolutely will not admit that he was. He did say that he is not doing that again though. HA

He flew with Waz

And we all flew with him

....the best little miracle entered our lives. After a long and very scary pregnancy, a loud energetic little baby was born. I cannot believe Evan is 3 years old.

Evan (a.k.a. Batman), you are full of energy and personality at 3 years old. You love to make people laugh...and you really do have me rolling in the floor laughing sometimes. You adore your baby sister and constantly kiss and hug her. You love to annoy Luc but he is also your best friend. You are the cutest little thing with your huge brown eyes and your mischievous little grins. I can't imagine my life without you and I am so proud to be your mommy. I love you!
