A Day in Hawaii

Everything I have posted about our Hawaiian experience has included pictures of amazing things we've seen and fun things we've done. I need to remember our typical weekday too and why this has not been the paradise dream. For every great two day weekend full of pictures, this is the five day week that precedes and follows it.

5:30 - wake up start getting ready

6:00 - wake up Luc who hates getting up early

6:30 - leave the house heading to school

7:15 or 7:30 - depending on the weather; arrive to school

8:00-2:15 - see students with very little time between

2:15 - eat lunch if I didn't get a chance during the day then start paperwork or quite often head to an IEP, eligibility, or team meeting

3:30-4:00 - head home (sometimes pick up a delicious treat on the way home...malasada or shave ice)

4:30-5:00 - arrive home

4:30 - go for a walk with the kids (not if I get home late or too tired)

5:00 - start supper

6:00 - eat

6:30-7:30 - bathe kids, read stories, put them in bed

7:30-8:30 - clean  up or do paperwork if I have a lot of things due

8:30-9:00 - go to bed

Thankfully, I love seeing kids for therapy so my day feels like it goes by very quickly. The admin teams at my two elementary schools are wonderful. I have become friends with a few teachers. I started carpooling with a teacher which has been great for the almost hour commute.

Unfortunately, I am so exhausted when I get home that I don't enjoy my own kids. I am often very grouchy by the time I get home. I feel like I mope around with a frown, yelling at everyone. During the weekdays I have to try really really hard to smile and act pleasant. I hope my kids don't remember this time as when mama was grumpy all the time.
