Kim, this post is for you...

...Your child is not the only one with LOTS of scrapes, bumps, and bruises. haha Kim and I talk about how the boys always look beat up.

Thursday morning Luc ran into the corner of the wall in the living room when he was attempting to run from me. Well Friday, he did it again. Then again last night. The poor child looks like he is abused or something.

I've been waiting for one knot to go away before I took him to get his 12 month portraits. Well, now he has 3 more. I think I will just take Briana's advice and take him to get pictures anyway. I can look back years from now and remember how clumsy he was when he was a toddler.

Luc's 1 year check-up

We had Luc's 1 year check up on Thursday. He is doing very well and growing up so fast. He had to have 3 shots which we no fun at all. He SCREAMED and gave the nurse a very dirty look. When we went down the hall to check-out, he kept looking behind me pointing down the hall then whimpering.

Here are his stats:
Height 31 in (97th percentile)
Weight 22lb (45th percentile)
Head 49 cm (97th percentile)

The only concern the doctor has is his head size. His height and weight curves are staying normal for his growth curve. His head size is increasing on his curve though. It is probably no worries but they are going to keep a close eye on it.

Here are some things Luc enjoys doing these days:
* Walks everywhere and has just started running
* Loves to put things inside other things (cups inside bowls, everything goes into the trash can, toys in his clothes drawers)
* Climbing on or in everything
* He eats anything we eat..unless it is something he might choke on
* He will throw and kick a ball and he loves to throw things over our balcony
* He LOVES to be outside anytime, with any kind of weather
* He says "dada", "daddy", "na-na" or "mama" for mama, "uh da" for what's that, and "uh-oh" all the time. Sometimes he says "ight" for light, "ou" for out, "ni-ni" for night night. He also says "oo" for moo, he makes a really funny sound for the sheep and goat, and he scrunches his nose when I make a pig sound.
* He knows where my nose, ears, hair, tongue, teeth, and toes are but he won't point to his own yet.
* When he doesn't get his way, he throws himself on the floor and fake cries.
* He loves to play chase and hide and seek
* He loves to slide and swing
* He loves to read books. He will go get a book and come sit in my lap so that I will read to him.
* He likes to draw with my pencil or pen...I have to get him some toddler crayons so it won't be so sharp and dangerous

Luc is a happy, energetic, lovable, curious, silly, smart, cuddly baby boy.

Well that's enough for now. I will try to get some cute videos up soon.

Luc's 1st birthday: Part 3

Here is a sneak peek from Luc's birthday party. I'll make a slide show of tons of pictures that I take. It may be a couple of days before I get to that project though. Here are s few of the best.

"Mommy, why did you put my animals on there."

Yes, icing was up his nose. I had to get him to blow it out.

This is the best way to eat a cake.

Very happy baby

What a mess!

There are tons more pictures of the cake and of Luc playing with his friends. I'll post those later.

Luc's 1st birthday cake

Heather and I made Luc's birthday cake. I debated between a train or a farm. I decided the farm since he LOVES animals so much. We had a lot of fun making the cakes. And Luc had tons of fun eating it....pictures of that later.

Here is the finished cake.

Here is the process.

Luc's 1st birthday: Part 2

Brian and I were going to take Luc to this fun play place on his birthday. Since I had to work all day, we didn't go. We ended up going today. It was SOOOOO much fun...probably more fun for me, Mama, and Heather than for Luc...and we only had to pay for Luc to play. Jennifer, Caden, and Caleb and Caren, Mazie, and Anderson met us there. I think they all had fun too. I made a slide show from the 76 pictures I took. We are definitely going back when Brian can go play with us.

Luc's birthday: Part 1

We had a family birthday party for Luc today. This morning he got to open his presents from us. He got a slide/climber and the Little People Airport. I had to work all day so we didn't get to go out to do anything. Luc spent the day with his Daddy. Brian went and bought him a small cake so that he could have cake ON his birthday. We sang to him then ate some cake.

He was so excited when he saw his slide this morning. Brian had it set up in the living room. I wasn't sure that he would have much of a reaction until he got to slide but evidentally he already knew what it was. As soon as we walked into the living room after he woke up, he started pointing and saying "uh da...uh da...uh da". I haven't really figured out what this means yet. I think it means "what's that" because he always points to things and says that with a question-like intonation. You would think I would know these things since I am a speech pathologist. Anyway, he was very excited. He knew exactly what to do.

And here he is gobbling up his cake. He was naked but started shivering so I put a bib on him to warm him up. I was not about to let him wear clothes with bright blue icing. His hands are stained blue. The blue didn't come completely off in the tub.

Where has the year gone?

Luc turned 1 today. I can't believe a whole year has gone by. It seems like we just came home from the hospital. At the same time, I can't imagine life without Luc. We love him so much. This past year has been awesome. After all the stress I had about working or not working, I am so glad that I stayed home with him his first year. I am so thankful that I was able to do that. Luc has changed so much this year. I am so proud of how much he has learned and grown. Here are my some of my favorite pictures from Luc's first year. There are LOTS of pictures so the slide show may take a while. I had to pick from thousands of pictures.

My little workaholic

Brian walked in the living room the other day to find Luc working hard. I put my computer on the back of the couch so that he can't get to it. Now that he can climb up on the couch, that trick doesn't work so well.

A fun filled day for Luc

This is actually not from today but I wanted to post it anyway. Luc came out of his bedroom the other day carrying Curious George. He carried around all morning, hugging him. It was really cute.

Ryan came over to play today while his mom did some things. Luc was so excited to see him. They played so well together. They played with the screen door to the balcony for the longest time. One would get on the inside and one on the outside, they would close the door, then touch each others hands through the screen and laugh. It was so funny. I think this picture is so funny. Ryan looks huge and Luc looks so tiny.

And they're off...

Tonight JW Tumble, a kids gym, hosted playtime for our apartment complex. Several families came. Luc had so much fun sliding, swinging, climbing through things, throwing and rolling balls, playing with bubbles, riding cars, pushing things, and just playing with all the kids there. We will definitely have to take him back now that he is walking. He loved it.

Jatin pushing Luc on the car

Caden with blue spiked hair

So he doesn't look very happy in this car-swing but he was loving it

At the very end of the party, Luc climbed under this slide and did his business. I'm glad he decided to wait until we were leaving.

You might want to turn your volume down for this one.

Prayers

My best friend, Robin, is burying her husband today. Brad died in his sleep from unknown causes. He was 29 years old. Robin and Brad have three little boys, Chase 5, Dylan 3, and Ethan almost 2. Brad was a really great guy. He will be missed by so many people.

Most of us couldn't imagine what it would be like to bury our husband/wife. Then, to know you have to care for three small children. Robin really needs prayers right now. She is going through the most difficult time in her life. Her parents have been taking care of the boys. Robin, her parents, and Brad's parents have tried to explain what has happened. It is very confusing for the boys to try to understand that their Daddy is gone. Anyway, please add Robin and the boys to your prayers.

Thank you!

The bad haircut

About every other year or so, I decide to get my hair cut short. I rarely get my haircut but when I do, I really do. I always got my haricut by this guy in Auburn. I would just walk in and say I needed it right below chin length and I needed something that I didn't have to fix. He would do a great job.

Well Friday I decided it was time. I went to this walk-in place. She butchered my hair. For me to complain about my hair, it has to be bad. I always just say "it will grow back". Ugh this was nasty. Here are pictures.

WHAT THE HECK? I could have done a better job myself.

So Sunday, I walked in to the Wal-Mart hair place to get it fixed. The lady tried to nicely tell me that the other person did a terrible job. I told her she didn't have to sugar coat it because I knew it looked horrible. She told me that there were big chunks of my hair that were cut out. She said the only way she could fix it was to go even shorter. Here is the result.

A little shorter than I wanted but MUCH better.

Outings this weekend

Friday, Kim and I took the boys to the Nature and Science Center. It was pretty interesting. There were a few animals. Luc loved looking at them. There was a huge pit of sand and gravel called the dino pit. The boys loved that too. They were so dirty and tired by the time we left.

Saturday, Brian and I took Luc to a park near our house. There happened to be a pug rescue going on when we got to the park. Luc loved watching the little dogs. There was TONS of pugs running around. We walked over to the boardwalk that goes over a pond. Luc enjoyed being out there on the water.

Lunch at Tanya's

This week Tanya hosted our Thursday lunch and playdate. We had delicious enchilada casserole (Myra, that is an awesome recipe).
Ryan, taking care of the baby. Does he need a sibling? haha

Luc followed Mia around asking for "more" half the time we were there. She was walking around with a bag of cheese puffs. She was so sweet to share with him.

Ally giving me her sweet smile. She had been making a really cute face where her mouth was open but I couldn't get a picture of it.

Luc kissing the baby. Okay, so I guess Luc loves the baby too.

I think Wyatt was teaching Mia and Ryan some computer stuff.
