Luc meets more family

My aunt, Bec, and two of her kids, Adrianne and Andrew, came out to visit us this week. We started the week off with doctor visits. I had to take Luc to the doctor because he has thrush. His doctor said that it isn't so bad that he needs to be medicated right now. He has gained another pound. He weighed 11 lbs 6 oz.

My doctor said that I am 100% healed. She told me that I can start exercising or swimming or whatever again. She told me not to overdo it though and that I will still be pretty sore for a while.

So Luc and I went on our first big outings. Brian went with us to Mount Bonnell. We also went to the drive through wild animal park which was fun but not nearly as good as the wild animal park close to home. Here are some pictures. I don't have any of Adrianne holding Luc.

First smiles

Luc is starting to smile and make noises. When he makes a loud noise, his eyes get really big and he gets that frown on his face. He looks like he is thinking "Did I do that?". It is so cute.

Luc's first Easter

Luc got to meet the Easter bunny Thursday but I haven't scanned the picture yet. If I ever get around to it, I will post it on here. Here are pictures from his first Easter. He looked so handsome in the little outfit Baboo got him....and check out those little shoes.

He doesn't look very happy to be going to church.

Our first Easter picture and first picture since the hospital...this on is much better.

These are girls from church. We all had our babies around the same time. Kim and Ryan, who is a little over 2 mos old, me and Luc, and Nancy and Brooklynn, who is 3 wks old.

Growing boy

We went to the doctor yesterday to have Luc's circumcision checked out. He now weighs 10 lb 5 oz and is 22 in long. He is a growing boy. Nursing is going much better now too. I am not in terrible pain anymore when I feed him and it is actually enjoyable. I love spending that time with him. He is so so cute and sweet. I can't wait for all of you at home to see the little guy. I have a picture to post. I'll do that later though.

Just so you know....

Luc doesn't hate baths. He didn't like his first bath but I think it was the tub. There is this sling you hang over the baby tub for a newborn. It holds the baby above the water so he was probably cold the whole time. I wouldn't like that either. I didn't hang it for his second bath and he loved it. He sat up in the seat part. As you can see, he was very relaxed.

He'll hate me for this one when he's older...actually, Brian took the picture so he can hate him.

This is what Luc does when he eats...

After Luc eats he has to have a really big stretch before he burps. He also likes to smack his lips. Listen closely and you can hear it. I think he looks pretty drunk after he eats.

Luc meeting his grandparents and great-grandparents

Luc met his Paulk grandparents and Aunt Heather when he was born. I didn't post pictures then so I am posting some now. They came for his birth and stayed with us for a few days after we came home from the hospital. Baboo and Da (my grandparents) and my Mama came to visit this past weekend. They were suppose to come in April but I don't think they could wait to meet their first great-grandson. Mama came with them because she can't stand to be away from this little man. I can't say that I had that much fun when Mama and Daddy were here the first time. I wasn't feeling very well. They were very helpful though. They cooked and cleaned and went grocery shopping for us the whole time. They all held the baby while I napped. This weekend when Baboo and Da were here I was feeling a lot better. We had fun. They were a huge help to have here too. They cooked, cleaned, went grocery shopping for us, and even helped with some laundry. Of course, they got to spoil the baby some too.

The first time Luc met his Paulk grandparents. He was about 45 minutes new.

Luc's first bathtub bath

Luc had his first real bath this morning after he pooped all over himself and his mommy. The second video is his first sponge bath at home. He liked his bathtub a little more than the sponge baths.

About to be very sad

Now he's just very mad

2 wk check-up

Well today was Luc's 2 wk check-up. He has grown a lot in the past two weeks. He is now 8 lbs 10 oz and he is still 21 in long. He is in the 75th percentile for weight and height. Everything looked great. Dr Mani (his pediatrician)told me that I can let him sleep as long as he wants at night now. HURRAY! I'm sure now that I don't have to set my alarm to wake him every 3 hrs to nurse, he will start waking on his own every 2. That is my kind of luck.

Since we've been home

Well Luc had his first dr appoint on Fri after we came home on Thurs. His bilirubim count was high, he wasn't pooing, and he weighed 6 lb 11 oz. We had to meet with the lactation consultant who advised us to give him one bottle of formula a day until my milk came in. My milk came in on Friday so we didn't have to do that for long. We had to go back to the pediatrician on Sat. His bilirubin count was a little higher and he already weighed 7 lb 4 oz. We realized that he wasn't pooing because of a medication that I was taking for a urinary tract infection that I got while I was in the hospital. I quite taking the antibiotics and he started pooing. He is doing great now. They made me stop drinking milk since he wasn't pooping. It's killing me. And soy milk sucks!

Baby arrival

Most everyone knows by now that we have a baby. We checked into the hospital on Sunday Feb 17 at 10 pm for our induction. They got me in and hooked me up to what seemed like thousands of machines. My blood pressure was high and the babies heart beat was low so they could not begin anything without consulting with my doctor Monday morning. We had a LONG night of being monitored. Monday morning my dr gave the okay to start the pitocin. The contractions got pretty intense quickly. I finally got the epidural (I have no idea what time). The epidural wasn't working though so the anesthesiologist had to come in and give me something else. I didn't really care what they were giving me as long as it helped stop the pain. At 4ish, my dr came in and told the nurse that I needed to start pushing soon. I started pushing at 4:30. After 2 and a half hours of pushing, Luc was born at 7:02pm. He was so perfect...but he did have a bigtime conehead. He weighed 7 lbs 12 oz and 20 in long...NOT the 9 to 9 and a half lb baby the dr thought he would be. Brian was with me the whole time. My parents and sister were there too. A couple of hours after the delivery, I began bleeding internally. They had to take me into surgery to determine the cause. They removed a hematoma. They had to give me a couple of pints of blood because of all the blood I lost prior to surgery. We got to come home on Thurs.
