The doctor told me at his 2 month check-up that Luc needs to be on vitamins. Well they smelled really horrible so I thought I would taste them. UGH They are gross. Here is what Luc looks like when I first start giving them to him. The video doesn't show it but once he has had a few drops on his tongue he starts gagging big time. He gags so much that his eyes water. I haven't gotten a whole dropper full of vitamins in him yet. I'm not going to make him puke trying to take them.

2 month check-up
We went for Luc's 2 month well-check today. He weighs 13 lb 12 oz and is 24 in long. He is in the 90th percentile for height and weight and head size. I guess he is growing into his head. Last time he was 75th percentile for weight and height but 90th for head size. He's a big boy.
He got 5 shots. He only cried for a few seconds. I cried more. He hasn't felt well tonight though. His little legs are hurting. Whenever I accidentally put pressure on his legs, he really cries. I hate it. He also got drops for the Rotovirus vaccine.
I told his doctor about his stomach aches and other things that are going on. She screened for acid reflux. He does have it. She said that she could prescribe medicine to relieve him from some of the pain and uncomfortable symptoms but that it doesn't "cure" it. We didn't get the medicine yet. She gave me some suggestions to try first.

The many faces of Luc
Luc makes some really great expressions. Here are some examples.
"oh my mom is so weird and I think I might laugh"

here's a smile

"I have to work so hard to talk"

The frown..this isn't really as good as the frown gets though

So sad

"Playing with my toys is so much fun"

Completely worn out with milk running down his face

Accomplishments of the week
As y'all know, we've been having trouble getting Luc to take a bottle and pacifier. He was taking a pacifier just fine then he wouldn't have it anymore. I tried 4 different kinds and he wouldn't take any of them. As for the bottle, we fought with him for a whole week. We tried the Avent, the Playtex Airflow, Dr Brown's, the BreastFlow, and some fancy bottle that Jennifer let us borrow. One day he cried so hard when Brian was trying to give him a bottle that he choked. He got to the point that when he saw the bottle, he would just start screaming. Well yesterday he took both. Brian gave him almost 5 oz of a bottle then he took his binky last night. Today he only took about 2 oz. If he hears or sees me, he won't take the bottle. He has been taking his binky today too.

He may have Alabama blood but he has a Texas birth certificate
So in Texas, everyone takes their kids out to find fields of bluebonnets and takes pictures. Evidentally, it is a huge thing here to do this.
Here is a funny story. One girl from church took her baby and her neice out to have pictures in bluebonnets. Then some other girls from church were talking about how they took their kids to have pictures in bluebonnets. Someone said something about Ryan getting his picture taken in bluebonnets. I thought "that's kind of strange..putting a little boy in a bluebonnet to have pictures taken". Well I then found out that bluebonnets are actually the Texas state flower....NOT bonnets that you wear on your head. Yeah, I'm not blonde.
Jennifer Bartley said (about Luc) "he may have Alabama blood but he has a Texas birth certificate". I figured since we are in Texas, we might as well do it too. Jennifer and I took Luc and Caden down the road to find some of these little flowers. Here are a couple of pictures

Then we went to the Oasis to have chips and queso and mixed drinks...of course they are virgin drinks since Jennifer is pregnant and I am nursing.

Luc's 7th week
Luc had a couple of playdates this week. I've already posted about our playdate with Tanya, Mia, and Ally. Some friends from church, Kim and Joe, came over with their baby, Ryan, one evening. Also, Luc and I went to visit another friend from church, Nancy, and her baby, Brooklynn.

Here is Luc's whine. This is what he does when he gets bored or just needs to vent a little.
Luc will not take a bink anymore. I'm not giving up but this is what he does now. I will wake up at night and he is sucking his thumb. During the day, I try to swap it for a bink but it doesn't work.

Look what we FINALLY did
So we finally put up the babybed. Luc still hasn't slept in it. I'm definitely not moving him out of our room until he is sleeping through the night. Even then I can't imagine him being that far away. Yeah, I know I'm overprotective but that's okay. I like him to be beside my bed or in bed with us. We still don't have the dresser. We waited too long to buy it. Now we're having trouble finding it.

Playing with Mia and Ally
My friend, Tanya, came over with her two little girls, Mia and Ally. I think at this point playdates are more for us moms than for the babies. As you can see by the pictures, Mia had fun but Luc and Ally could really care less.
Tanya and Mia, who is about 17 mos old (I think)

Luc, 7 weeks old, at the playground

Ally, who is 5 weeks old, at the playground

Luc saying "what's up girl"

Mia loves to kiss the babies

Luc looks like he's putting some kung fu move on Ally

It's a cry off...actually they are both pretty loud

Also this week
Luc and I went to visit and have lunch with a friend from church who has a baby a month older than Luc. I don't have any pictures from that. I do have pictures from lunch with a group of moms and their babies today.
Luc's first kiss!

Caren and Luc

Mazie cheesing

Mia wasn't in the mood to cheese

Morgandy was too busy playing with Luc's carseat

All the "big" girls...Mazie, Mia, and Morgandy

The smallest of the bunch, Ally. She's only 2 weeks younger than Luc but she's at least 5 lbs lighter.

Luc is 6 weeks old
Luc is 6 weeks old this week. Here are some pictures from this week. He is a growing boy. According to our scale at home, he weighs 12.6 lbs. I don't know how accurate our scale is but I'm guessing it's not too far off. Luc had been really fussy last week adn earlier this week. He's been much better the past couple of days though. I learned that he naps really well on his stomach in his craddle. I know pediatricians now say "do not put babies on their bellies to sleep". I figure as long as I am up and can watch him, he's going to be fine. Anyway, a good nap makes for a much better evening for me. As for me, I am happy to say that I have lost 40 lbs. Although, I only have 5 more lbs to go, my pants don't fit the same. I have squeezed into my old jeans and worn them every day this week though. Okay...here are the pictures of Mr Luc.
This was early in the week when he was having stomach aches.

One happy morning!

We started having tummy time more often this week.

Napping with Daddy.
