Evan has been having stomach problems. Last week he started having "firm" stools which is rare for breastfed babies. He was also spending 3-4 hours in the evening screaming. We tried so many different things...cutting dairy out of my diet, increasing water and fiber in my diet, trying to give him water with a little prune juice, the "I love you" massage, checking his tempurature rectally (supposedly it helps them poop). Nothing was working. That's when we went to the doctor on Monday when he decided to have two big poops while we were at the doctors office.
Tuesday he had two bowel movements early in the day but nothing in the afternoon or evening. He spent 4 hours that evening screaming. After he finally went to sleep, I had to wake him twice during the night to eat. He didn't want to eat though. Wednesday morning he still didn't poop but he did eat a little bit. I called the nurse to ask if I could give him probiotics. She said that is only for diarrhea which I know is no true. Later that morning, Evan threw up big time. I called the nurse back. A different nurse told me to come in. So what did the doctor ask, "Have you tried probiotics?".
So for now Evan may be colic and/or has reflux. We are trying probiotics and Mylanta for now. If it doesn't help, they will put him on Zantac. He has been pooping like a champ yesterday and today. The Mylanta seems to help when he is uncomfortable after eating too. We have had 2 nights without his poor painful screams now. Hopefully, this has fixed his problems.
Oh yeah, and he weighed 9 lb 10 oz which means he gained 5 oz from Mon to Wed.
This is a yawn not a cry. I think it's really cute.
